Deck construction in Bucks County, PA
A deck lives outside through Pennsylvania winters, so it is built from the ground up or it is built twice. Footings below frost line, proper ledger flashing, and hardware rated for the lumber it sits in.
We build composite and pressure-treated decks, replace failing decks down to the framing, and add railings, stairs, benches, gazebos, and privacy walls. We also do deck flips, where the framing is sound and the surface and rails are replaced.
If your existing deck is soft underfoot or the rails move when you lean on them, that is usually a structural issue and not a surface one. We will tell you honestly whether it needs replacing or whether it can be saved.

What holds a deck up
Decking and rails are what you see. Footings, ledger flashing, joist spacing, and hardware are what keep it level and solid through thirty winters. This is what ours look like before the boards go down.

Deck construction questions
Composite or pressure-treated wood?
Composite costs more up front and asks almost nothing of you afterward. Pressure-treated costs less and needs cleaning and sealing to last. For most homeowners planning to stay in the house, composite is the better long-run number.
How long does a deck take to build?
One to two weeks for most residential decks once materials are on site. Permits and inspections can add time on the front end.
Do decks need permits?
In most Bucks County townships, yes, and inspections along the way. We handle the filing and meet the inspector.
Can you save my old deck?
Sometimes. If the framing and footings are sound, a deck flip gives you a new surface and new rails for far less than a full rebuild. We will tell you which one you are looking at.
