Question 1

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

Accepted Answer

A straightforward kitchen with the same layout is usually two to four weeks on site. Moving walls, plumbing, or electric adds time, and custom cabinetry has its own lead time before we ever start demo. We give you a week-by-week schedule before work begins.

Question 2

Can we stay in the house during the work?

Accepted Answer

Almost always yes. You will be without a kitchen sink and range for part of the job, so most homeowners set up a temporary kitchen in another room. We keep the work area contained and clean up at the end of every day.

Question 3

Do you help pick cabinets and finishes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We walk through the options with you, tell you honestly where spending more is worth it and where it is not, and we order everything so you are not chasing five suppliers.

Question 4

Do you handle permits?

Accepted Answer

When your township requires a permit for the work, we tell you that up front and take care of the filing.

Question 5

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

Accepted Answer

A typical full bathroom gut is two to three weeks. Tile and waterproofing have cure times that cannot be rushed, and that is most of the schedule.

Question 6

Is a tile shower better than an insert?

Accepted Answer

A tile shower gives you any size, shape, and finish you want, and done properly it lasts decades. An acrylic insert costs less and installs faster. We will price both and tell you which makes sense for your house.

Question 7

Will we lose our only bathroom?

Accepted Answer

If it is the only full bath in the house we plan the schedule around that, and we tell you exactly which days the room is out of service before we start.

Question 8

Do you fix water damage you find during demo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we show you before we cover it. Rot behind a shower wall is common in older Bucks County homes. You will get a photo, an explanation, and a price before we proceed.

Question 9

How long does finishing a basement take?

Accepted Answer

Four to eight weeks for most basements, depending on square footage and whether a bathroom is part of the scope.

Question 10

What if my basement gets damp?

Accepted Answer

We address that first. Finishing over a moisture problem destroys the work, so if we see one we tell you what it will take to correct it before framing starts.

Question 11

Do I need a permit to finish a basement?

Accepted Answer

Most townships require one, particularly when electric, plumbing, or egress is involved. We tell you what your township requires and handle the filing.

Question 12

Can you add a bathroom down there?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Whether it needs a pump depends on where your main line sits. We check that before quoting.

Question 13

Composite or pressure-treated wood?

Accepted Answer

Composite costs more up front and asks almost nothing of you afterward. Pressure-treated costs less and needs cleaning and sealing to last. For most homeowners planning to stay in the house, composite is the better long-run number.

Question 14

How long does a deck take to build?

Accepted Answer

One to two weeks for most residential decks once materials are on site. Permits and inspections can add time on the front end.

Question 15

Do decks need permits?

Accepted Answer

In most Bucks County townships, yes, and inspections along the way. We handle the filing and meet the inspector.

Question 16

Can you save my old deck?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes. If the framing and footings are sound, a deck flip gives you a new surface and new rails for far less than a full rebuild. We will tell you which one you are looking at.

Question 17

Do you do roofing or just remodeling?

Accepted Answer

Both. We replace and repair roofs, and because we also do framing and additions, we handle the tie-ins and flashing details that a roofing-only crew often leaves to someone else.

Question 18

Can you match my existing siding?

Accepted Answer

Usually. We source discontinued profiles when we can, and when we cannot, we will show you the closest match and where the transition will land before any of it goes on the house.

Question 19

How long does a siding job take?

Accepted Answer

One to two weeks for most single-family homes, depending on size, trim detail, and what we find under the old siding.

Question 20

Do you pull permits for exterior work?

Accepted Answer

Yes, whenever the township requires it — additions, structural roofs, and porticos almost always do. We file and meet the inspector.

Question 21

Are you licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. JMJ Home Remodeling LLC is licensed and insured and carries Pennsylvania Home Improvement Contractor registration #PA214377. We will show you proof of insurance before work starts.

Question 22

Do you charge for estimates?

Accepted Answer

No. Estimates are free. We come out, look at the space, and give you a written scope and price.

Question 23

How soon can you start?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the season and the size of the job. Call or text (267) 257-6559 and we will tell you our real availability, not what you want to hear.

Question 24

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

Langhorne, Newtown, Yardley, Bensalem, Levittown, and Doylestown, plus Northeast Philadelphia, Huntingdon Valley, and Montgomery County. If you are nearby and unsure, just ask.

Question 25

Is your work guaranteed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every project carries a one-year workmanship warranty. If something we installed fails in that window, we come back and correct it.

Question 26

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Accepted Answer

When your township requires a permit, we tell you up front, handle the filing, and meet the inspector on site.
